"Dear Diary,
Today was a really cool day..."
...Because I went to a computer seminar! ⊙0⊙
Well guys, if you're gonna guess that it was boring...
Want to know why? Check it out under the break!
Welp, so it began earlier, 12 noon I think? (・ヘ・?) So yeah. I went to San Francisco Elementary School ( a.k.a. my awesome school ) and went to look for Ms. Iglesias, my math teacher who will be bringing us here to QCA. I saw my Grade 6 coordinator, Mr. Bancoro walking around his classroom and I asked him where was Ms. Iglesias. He told me she was still coming to my school. So I told Mr. Bancoro to tell Ms. Iglesias about the fact that I was heading to QCA and I'm not going to wait in my school.
Time skip to my time here, okay? ╰( ´◔ ω ◔ `)╯
So I waited for a while for Ms. Iglesias and the other people who were coming too. In total, there were four of us. When they came ( I was waiting at the gate ) some nice ICT program members ( 3 of them I think? ) came and toured us around Quezon City Academy! It was pretty NEAT, INCREDIBLE, CAPTIVATING, and the place just makes me completely ENAMORED with it in an instant!! ( I smell an acronym in those words in bold... hehehe Ψ(`▽´)Ψ )
We went to a lot of places in the school. Namely the high school hallway, the library, the chapel, the auditorium, the mini garden, the biology and the other science lab thing, and Computer Lab 2. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a glimpse of the auditorium. Apparently, the teachers were having a seminar of their own. But the other places were pretty neat! I liked the fact that QCA doesn't use things like manila paper and cartolina anymore, they just utilize Microsoft Powerpoint and other forms of technology. They have built-in projectors and screens in their classrooms, so it's very easy for students to present reports. Someday, I just hope all schools here in the Philippines are like that. (●´∀`●)
Okay, so after the tour was done we went back to the Internet Lab. We were allowed to browse the web for a while before the actual program began. I guess all of us decided to hang around on Facebook. I didn't do much, except probably I posted an incredibly silly status.
15 minutes later or so, we began the actual program. We started with Powerpoint basics. We were using Microsoft Powerpoint 2007, where the transitions and animations were one and the same. As much as I wanted to do that typewriter effect thing, I didn't know how to because I wasn't familiar with 2007's interface. Our topic was really simple: to describe ourselves. Mine was incredibly crazy and brief. I swear it wasn't so serious.
Next up, we had the blogging activity. They explained to us about blogging etiquette, how to set up a blog and all that. The whole topic was a piece of cake! (⌒▽⌒)☆ I was completely familiar with the blogging environment. While everyone was setting up their blogs for the first time, I was making the introductory post. After that, I began making this post. But what strikes me the most in this activity was the blogging etiquette. The lecturer told us about sourcing someone's work and giving them credit for their work. They also told us that we should be held responsible for the posts and the comments we receive because of our posts.
Best of all, I liked the host of the seminar. She was really nice and helpful to us students. The niceness of the people in Quezon City Academy ( QCA ) match the amazing, positive atmosphere of the school. Who knows? I might be back, not just as a visitor, but as one of their students.
Well, this ends the story about my experience in QCA's ICT Outreach Program! I hope you all enjoyed it!!! (⌒▽⌒)☆
