Hello everyone! Meet my cousin Ishael:
Isn't she adorable? It was 42 days since she died. She was my only first cousin by the time I've written this.
Ishael, or as my family and I call "Isha," is a baby girl, and the only example of a rare genetic disorder. This genetic disorder is called "46 xx add x qtr."
Ishael was a very smart girl. Two hours after birth, she could already recognize her father's voice. Two weeks later, she learned how to cover her eyes with her hands to protect them from the sun's brightness. And two months later, she learned to pretend that she was sleeping around unfamiliar people.
One time my classmates were looking at texts on my cellphone, and they asked this:
Classmate: Anong pangalan ng sinasamba mo? ( What is the name of the god you worship? )
Me: God.
Classmate: Eh sino si Ishael? ( Then who is Ishael? )
Me: Pinsan ko yun na laging naka praying position. ( She's my cousin who is always in praying position. )
According to my Ninong Noel:
"Ishael was only 20 months old, pure and innocent, when God took her. She prayed always when she was with us. We believe she also prays in heaven now and can pray for others especially for Kaila her only cousin."
After Isha's funeral, my mother and I were very, very sad. But while we were at Coastal Mall bus station, a man was walking around, selling food. He was yelling "Taho! Taho! Taho!" (Taho is a sweet made of tofu.) but then he looked at his goods and he just said, "Ay, Lumpia pala. Lumpia, lumpia, lumpia!" ( Lumpia is a spring roll. ) We laughed so hard we snorted loudly and tears came out of our eyes. I guess that occurrence erased our sadness! Well, maybe Ishael whispered to God to take our sadness away! :)
That's all, folks!
